UPDATED: Thank you Ezra Klein for clearing up the Liberal thought process for us….

You are a f’ing ignorant moron, Ezra. The thought that someone pays you for your thoughts is astonishing.

UPDATE: Iowahawk beclowns Ezra “12-time winner of the UCLA Poli-Sci Department Undergraduate Apple Polisher of the Month” Klein as only Iowahawk can do. Check out Mr. Klein’s entry in a not-too-long-ago “essay” contest:

The Constitution is very important. It is very important because the Constitution is an important part of the American government, which is as we all know very important also. It can be juxtaposed with other important books and journalism writings which can be found in various history studies.

[...]

Because the Constitution is so old, it is written in the “old-timey” language of people of more than one century ago, which leads many modern people to get confused and frustrated by it. “What is this stupid boring thing?” they will ask, then go back to playing Super Mario Cart. These modern people could not be any more wrong, because hidden underneath all the “so-called” confusing words is an exciting story with twists and turns everywhere. Fortunately, and most importantly, the Founding Fathers also invented the Supreme Court which does a good job of translating the Constitution into modern words and juxtaposing them for all of us, the American people of the United States.

And this is, in at least five hundred words, not including the foot notes, what the Constitution means to me.

Read the whole thing.

2010 defined in two cartoons

I second that

The other day, Glenn Beck put forth the opinion that no one in Congress should be making more than anyone on the front lines of the military ($22,676) and no one in Congress should have a better medical plan than the VA offers. And that federal employees should never make more than the “average American ($50,462).” Currently Congress makes $174 and the average federal employee brings home $74,403.

Amen.

Unions are evil

Sanitation Department’s slow snow cleanup was a budget protest

These garbage men really stink.

Selfish Sanitation Department bosses from the snow-slammed outer boroughs ordered their drivers to snarl the blizzard cleanup to protest budget cuts — a disastrous move that turned streets into a minefield for emergency-services vehicles, The Post has learned.

People died because of these pieces of dog excrement.

Unions used to serve a purpose, now they only serve the union bosses and hurt the public at large whether they be teachers, sanitation, service employees, automakers or public servants. They are all evil.

Guess who is footing the bill for another Obama Hawaiian vacation?

Every one of us: President and family on multi-million dollar Christmas vacation in Hawaii

President Obama and his family are enjoying a delightful Christmas vacation with friends and family in the chief executive’s home state of Hawaii.

Nobody questions a president’s right or need to take take away from the White House, but an investigation by Hawaii Reporter has turned up some eye-opening information about the costs and other aspects of the Obama get-away.

Just consider these estimates on part of the costs of the latest Obama Hawaii trip:

* Mrs. Obama’s early flight to Hawaii: $63,000 (White House Dossier)

* Obama’s round trip flight to Hawaii: $1 million (GAO estimates)

* Housing in beachfront homes for Secret Service and Seals in Kailua ($1,200 a day for 14 days): $16,800

* Costs for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel: $134,400 ($400 per day for 24 staff) – excluding meals and other room costs

* Police overtime: $250,000 (2009 costs reported by Honolulu Police Department)

* Ambulance: $10,000 (City Spokesperson)

TOTAL COST: $1,474,200

But that $1.47 million figure leaves out a number of signficant costs that simply could not be calculated by Hawaii Reporter:

* Rental of office building in Kailua on canal

* Security upgrades and additional phone lines.

* Costs for car rentals and fuel for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel (Secret Service imports most of the cars used here to escort the president).

* Surveillance before the president arrives.

* Travel costs for Secret Service and White House staff traveling ahead of the President.

White House spokesmen insist Obama’s vacation expenses are in line with those of previous presidents, which may well be true, but, since the government refuses to disclose many important details about any presidential journey, nobody can know for sure.

There appear to be reasons to suspect the Obamas’ trip could have been done for less, according to Hawaii Reporter.

[...]

But Obama and friends opted instead to secure use of three luxury beachfront places, including the “Winter White House” – or Kailua home that the president rents two weeks a year.

That facility, Hawaii Reporter, noted, normally rents for an estimated $3,500 a day or $75,000 a month, according to the web site Gadling.com.

Isn’t good to know this President is concerned about the message he is sending the people of this nation suffering under his attempts to fix our economy?

It’s good to be the king.

Five arrested over Danish cartoon terror plot

The Danish intelligence agency PET said Wednesday it had arrested four men suspected of preparing a massacre at a newspaper which published caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed.

A spokeswoman for Swedish intelligence agency Saepo said a fifth man had been arrested in Sweden in connection with the same plot against the Copenhagen-based Jyllands-Posten daily.

“These arrests have successfully stopped an imminent terror attack, where several of the suspects … were going to force their way into the (building which houses the Jyllands-Posten) in Copenhagen and kill as many people as possible,” PET head Jacob Scharf said in a statement.

The four men arrested in Denmark were a 44-year-old Tunisian, a 29-year-old Swede born in Lebanon, a 30-year-old Swede and a 26-year-old Iraqi asylum seeker.

The first three men all lived in Sweden and travelled to Denmark overnight, the PET statement said.

According to PET, the man arrested in Stockholm was a 37-year-old Swede of Tunisian background.

Scharf said several of the suspects could be described “as militant Islamists with connections to international terror networks.”

Yes, our country is being ruined on purpose by thieves like Dick Durbin

There is no other explanation for it.

Comments from theblogprof and this video highlight the issue:

Fleeced: The upper 1% earned 19.6% of total income before tax, and paid 41% of the individual federal income tax. “No other major country is so dependent on so few taxpayers”

The most productive citizens in this country are being fleeced by the unproductive. The so-called rich are being punished for achieving the American Dream via punitive taxation. Earlier this month, and after voters repudiated Democrats’ class warfare rhetoric in November, Dick Durbin trots it out again – the class warfare card – and gets taken behind the woodshed by Dave Ramsey for his effort:

Darned straight! The rich in this country pay far more than their fair share. And not only does bottom 47% of taxpayers pay no federal income tax, but the bottom 40% GET MONEY BACK! That goes right along in consistency with a prior post of mine: 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll: 50% of Americans that don’t pay taxes thinks “rich” people ought to pay more, even though top 1% pay more than bottom 95%

Note that the bottom 50% pay almost no taxes, while the top 5% pay about 60% of the federal tax bill. I agree with one thing – this isn’t fair. But I think it is the rich that are paying too much, only to be sneered at by those that pay nothing at all and get OUR money back from the government. It’s now gotten so bad, so unfair, that the top 1% pay more in federal taxes than the bottom 95%:

(Chart via Top Ten Charts of 2010 – ed.)

The rich are paying far more than their fair share, and instead of being thanked are demonized by Obama and their ilk. Dave Ramsey is right – Dick Durbin and those of his mindset are thieves. In addition, all data clearly shows that conservatives and the evil rich give far more of their money to charity than liberals. Liberals are very generous… with other people’s money. But not their own. They are the true scrooges. With all of that as a backdrop, from Instapundit

EXPLODING A TAX MYTH: A 2008 OECD study of leading economies found that ‘taxation is most progressively distributed in the United States.’ More so than Sweden or France. The problem in the United States is that too many people vote, but don’t pay income taxes.

But, it’s for your own good!

111th Congress Added More Debt Than First 100 Congresses Combined: $10,429 Per Person in U.S.

The federal government has accumulated more new debt–$3.22 trillion ($3,220,103,625,307.29)—during the tenure of the 111th Congress than it did during the first 100 Congresses combined, according to official debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury.

That equals $10,429.64 in new debt for each and every one of the 308,745,538 people counted in the United States by the 2010 Census.

The total national debt of $13,858,529,371,601.09 (or $13.859 trillion), as recorded by the U.S. Treasury at the close of business on Dec. 22, now equals $44,886.57 for every man, woman and child in the United States.

In fact, the 111th Congress not only has set the record as the most debt-accumulating Congress in U.S. history, but also has out-stripped its nearest competitor, the 110th, by an astounding $1.262 trillion in new debt.

Obama is glad Eagles signed Michael Vick

Everyone deserves a second chance was President Barack Obama’s message when he called Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie last week to congratulate him and the team for giving quarterback Michael Vick a take two.

NBC’s Peter King reported the call during “Football Night in America” on Sunday.

“I talked to Jeffrey Lurie, the owner of the Eagles this week, and he said he was surprised to pick up the phone one day and Barack Obama calls him to praise the Philadelphia Eagles for signing Vick and giving him a second chance,” King said from NBC’s Rockefeller Plaza studios. “Lurie told me that the president was passionate about the fact that it’s rarely a level playing field for prisoners once they leave jail. And he said the message was, what the Eagles had done with Vick was important for society,” said King.

But will Obama let Vick watch the family dog?

Next, Obama will call the NHL next for allowing blacks to play.
