No HOPE® for real CHANGE®

Team Obama is no different than any other lying, corrupt administration.

President Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser, John O. Brennan, will lead the White House review of intelligence community information practices and aviation security, even though he was CEO of the private company the government used to help manage a key terrorism database before he joined the administration.

In response to questions about Brennan’s potential conflict of interest, White House ethics counsel Norm Eisen has issued a waiver for Brennan, official said.

If this surprises you, you haven’t been paying attention or you don’t have higher expectations for your President than you do for anyone else, denting the narrative in the process…

via TIME: Domestic-Terrorism Incidents Hit a Peak in 2009

You may not have noticed, because most of the plots were foiled, but 2009 saw an unprecedented surge in terrorism events on U.S. soil. When analysts tally these events, they refer to anything from a disrupted plot to U.S. citizens traveling abroad to seek terrorism training or a lone gunman running amok in the U.S. And by the calculations of Rand Corp. expert Brian Jenkins, more terrorist threats were uncovered in the U.S. in 2009 than in any year since 2001.

There appears to be an increase in [terrorist] activity in the U.S.,” warns Jenkins, who calculates that there have been 32 terrorism-related events on these shores since 9/11 and that 12 of them occurred in 2009.

The more attacks I guess the cheaper all of our government health care will be with fewer of us around….

Why are liberals miserable?

Is it because they bring unhappiness on themselves?

Gotta wonder since past studies have shown Liberals tend to be less charitable with their own money than they are with other peoples’ money, and they tend to view honesty less important a value their political opponents in their general outlook.

So would it surprise that Liberal leaning states with Liberal governance, Liberal policies, and high taxes would be less happy than those with different values and different public policy? Seems there may be a correlation…

Allysia Finley: Are Taxes the Root of Unhappiness?:

Does living in a blue state make people blue? It seems so, according to a new study in Science magazine that ranks states according to their happiness. The study finds that New Yorkers are the unhappiest people in America and their neighbors in Connecticut come in a close second, followed by Michigan, Indiana, New Jersey, California, and Illinois. And the happiest states? Drum roll, please…Louisiana, Hawaii, Florida, Tennessee, and Arizona.

Eight of the ten happiest states lean right while eight of the ten unhappiest tilt left. While the study by no means proves that being liberal makes people unhappy, it does reflect some of the unfortunate implications of living in a blue state…

Many liberal state governments like those in Albany, Trenton and Sacramento are spending more and more on entitlement programs and public employee pensions, racking up more and more debt, and imposing more and more taxes to pay for it all—while ignoring their taxpayers’ needs. Taxpayers, however, aren’t just getting unhappy. They’re getting out. United Van Lines’ 2009 annual study shows that New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Illinois are among the states with the highest outbound migration while Alabama and Tennessee are among the states with the highest inbound migration.

This doesn’t bode well for high-spending, high-tax states like New York where outbound migrants’ income is 13% greater than that of inbound migrants. In 2006, this differential meant a loss of $4.3 billion in taxpayer income for the state. State governments therefore have a vested interest in keeping residents happy by reducing taxes and reigning in irresponsible spending.

Taxes may not be the root of all unhappiness, but they do result in some very sad citizens.

One thing I can say is that the Liberal in my experience tends to be much more pessimistic, negative, needy, judgmental, and dependent on others than the typical Conservative I meet and know. It is reflected in their values, their politics, and their governance.

Iran to import bad things; UN to send letter

VIENNA – Iran is close to clinching a deal to clandestinely import 1,350 tons of purified uranium ore from Kazakhstan, according to an intelligence report obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press. Diplomats said the assessment was heightening international concern about Tehran’s nuclear activities.

Such a deal would be significant because, according to an independent research group, Tehran appears to be running out of the material, which it needs to feed its uranium enrichment program.

The report was drawn up by a member nation of the International Atomic Energy Agency and provided to the AP on condition that the country not be identified because of the confidential nature of the information.

In Washington, State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said, “the transfer of any uranium yellowcake … to Iran would constitute a clear violation of UNSC sanctions.”

We should the UN to send a strongly worded memo to Iran. That’ll put an end to things.

Video Captures Iranian Police Using Vehicles to Plow Into Protesters

CNN: In the video — shot Sunday, according to the posting on the Web site YouTube — green-and-white police trucks rush into crowds of protesters in the capital, Tehran. Demonstrators scatter, but one truck drives into a crowd trapped in a narrow street with a wall on one side and parked cars on the other.

The camera follows the truck as it backs away, and a person briefly can be seen crumpled in the street where the truck had been. When the camera returns to the spot, another police truck drives over the person. Other protesters rush to the downed person’s aid; it was not clear whether that person was killed

Quote of the Day: “They Just Took My Money”

That’s what my 8-year-old son said about the sales tax on the ride home from Borders a few minutes ago. He had a $10 gift card from Christmas, bought a Clone Wars book for $7.99, looked at the receipt, and wondered why he still didn’t have a full $2.01 on it.

This is how conservatives are made.

The American Spectator:

Days after becoming the nation’s first female Speaker of the House in 2006, Nancy Pelosi pledged to create “the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history.” The statement appears ludicrous now given Congress’ smarmy image, thanks in large part to Pelosi’s theatrics on a host of issues.

At the time, though, many Americans were willing to give Democrats a shot. President Bush was wildly unpopular, and congressional Republicans were plagued by scandal. Pelosi and her fellow liberals rode into office on a tidal wave of discontent.

But although Pelosi has huffed and puffed vociferously, she’s failed to deliver on her transparency pledges. Trillion-dollar stimulus packages and runaway spending have afforded Democrats ample opportunity for secrecy, as have eleventh hour amendments to health-care reform and a lackadaisical approach to making the bill’s content available to voters.

The result: a congressional approval rating of 26 percent…

What a difference three years makes. That’s how long it’s taken for Pelosi’s most ethical Congress in history to become one of the least ethical.

Surrounded by incompetence

Here we begin 2010 with all our attention on an incompetent radical Islamic terrorist and an incompetent administration. That is how you expected the year to end didn’t you?

Ralph Peters comments:

President Obama yesterday pulled his head out of the sand long enough to promise a thorough review of US security practices after the near-suicide bombing of a commercial airliner over Detroit on Christmas Day.

Then he stuck it right back in.Obama, in a brief address from Hawaii, did manage to utter the “T” word: “A full investigation has been launched into this attempted act of terrorism.” But he refused to define the nature of the threat.

Nor did he fire Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano — a pity, because if any government official ever earned the boot, it’s her….

Yet Obama is short on credibility, too. Why can’t he bring himself to describe the threat for what it is: an Islamist holy war against America?

I followed people who pervert Islam and all I got was a pair of roasted holiday nuts for Christmas.

Yesterday, Obama termed Abdulmutallab “an isolated extremist.”

Really? Is that all? Read more of this post
