Quote of the Day: Returning to bondage

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage. – Alexander Tyler

Obama studied the Constitution to learn how to ignore it

I think the big mistake we made was believing that Obama believed in and supported the Constitution. The need for all the unvetted and unapproved czars Obama has surrounded himself with proves his weakness and inability to the do job he BS’d his way into.

The Constitution is not my law to follow...

I make Bush look like an amateur when it comes to ignoring our nation's laws.

It is my belief he studied and taught constitutional law in order to circumvent and to ignore it as he saw fit:

Last week’s announcement that “Pay Czar” Kenneth Feinberg slashed compensation for executives at seven large financial firms by an average of 50% stunned Wall Street, stoked the fires of populist resentment, and troubled economists. Will this government-mandated pay cut drive the most talented professionals away from these companies, endangering their recovery? Does it augur further politicization of economic decisions?

Lost in the arguments over economics and political theory, however, is a more basic question: Was this action constitutional?

via The Pay Czar Is Unconstitutional

On top of all the other obstacles facing President Obama in his quest to pass health reform is this one: Does the U.S. Constitution allow the government to require uninsured Americans to buy medical insurance or impose a tax penalty if they refuse?Congress has never before required citizens to purchase any good or service, but that is what both House and Senate health bills would mandate.

Obama Honors Returning War Dead

President Barack Obama made an overnight dash to Dover Air Force Base on Wednesday to honor the return of fallen soldiers, absorbing the ultimate cost of war as the United States endures its deadliest month of the Afghanistan campaign.

On a clear fall night, Mr. Obama flew by Marine One helicopter directly to Delaware to greet the flag-draped caskets of 18 Americans killed in action this week.

When I heard about this early morning jaunt I had mixed feelings. It just didn’t feel right.

obama-dover-salute

First, I am glad the president is giving the fallen and their families his respects. It’s about time he follow up his words of “support” with actions (link, link). Maybe he should consider the ultimate support they have requested by sending at least the number of troops the professionals have requested.

Second, I’m glad he finally learned how to render a decent salute. Unless you’ve done it in the past it is something that you need to learn to do properly with the dignity and respect the is intended to convey.

However, something really bugs me about this president, the people who surround him, and their intentions.

What was the need for cameras?

What is the purpose of putting dead American heroes in a dramatic picture with a man who has never really needed the military for anything more than a prop?

Was this entire episode just a piece of stagecraft?

Why are we seeing this at all?

With the amount of control over the “message” coming out of the White House, I cannot help but feel this is all contrived and nothing more than a PR stunt. I mean is the White House really trying to convince me the president finally gets it? Or, that he got it the whole time but just never got the coverage it deserved?

Everything they do is calculated. Everything they touch is intended. Everything they say is scripted. Nothing from Team Obama is genuine so it leads me to believe this is intended to be about the president and not our fallen heroes.

The photo does have value though. The president standing there in the picture makes me think of what a small man he is compared to those he is honoring and it makes me despair for others who may be used by this White House after they have given their lives for something bigger than themselves never concerned about their popularity or poll numbers.

I seem to recall that previous administrations have tried to respect our honored dead by keeping them off the front pages. I think I prefer that approach better.

Rest in peace, warriors. Thank you for you braving what most will not.

They want to run your health care too….

via Report: Cash for Clunkers was a lemon:

American taxpayers paid a lot of cash for those clunkers: $24,000 for each new car sold, according to a study released Wednesday.

That’s a lot of money, especially when the so-called “cash for clunker” stimulus program offered only a maximum $4,500 in cash for each person who traded in an old gas-guzzler and bought a new car.

The government could have done almost as well by just giving away cars for free, instead of creating an elaborate incentive program…

FBI kills leader of radical Muslims; 12 charged

The leader of a local mosque who authorities also are calling the head of an Islamic fundamentalist group was killed in a shootout with federal agents this afternoon during a series of raids that resulted in charges against a dozen men.

Luqman Ameen Abdullah, 53, leader of the Masjid Al-Haqq mosque in Detroit, is accused in a federal complaint of heading a Sunni Muslim group with a mission of establishing a separate Islamic nation within the United States.

Abdullah, also known as Christopher Thomas, was gunned down after firing on officers as the FBI raided a Dearborn warehouse, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. An FBI canine also was fatally shot. Raids also were conducted in Detroit.

“The eleven defendants are members of a group that is alleged to have engaged in violent activity over a period of many years and known to be armed,” a joint statement from the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

A 12th man was arrested late Wednesday in connection with the investigation. Three of the men charged were at large Wednesday night.

Abdullah and the others were charged with conspiracy to commit several federal felony crimes, including illegal possession and sale of firearms and theft from interstate shipments.

President Obama, you lie, again

Candidate Barack Obama, February 2007:

For the last six years we’ve been told that our mounting debts don’t matter….

And as people have looked away in disillusionment and frustration, we know what’s filled the void. The cynics, and the lobbyists, and the special interests who’ve turned our government into a game only they can afford to play. They write the checks and you get stuck with the bills, they get the access while you get to write a letter, they think they own this government, but we’re here today to take it back. The time for that politics is over. It’s time to turn the page.

President Obama, 2009:

During his first nine months in office, President Obama has quietly rewarded scores of top Democratic donors with VIP access to the White House, private briefings with administration advisers and invitations to important speeches and town-hall meetings.

High-dollar fundraisers have been promised access to senior White House officials in exchange for pledges to donate $30,400 personally or to bundle $300,000 in contributions ahead of the 2010 midterm elections, according to internal Democratic National Committee documents obtained by The Washington Times.

One top donor described in an interview with The Times being given a birthday visit to the Oval Office. Another was allowed use of a White House-complex bowling alley for his family. Bundlers closest to the president were invited to watch a movie in the red-walled theater in the basement of the presidential mansion.

I know they all do it. It’s part of the game. But this clown was supposed to be different. He was something new. He was not cut from the same cloth. He was going to save the world!

He’s not. He is just another lying, deceptive, ego-centric, snake-oil-selling, p.o.s. politician and demagogue just like all the others in DC.

Thanks a lot you idiots.

Quote of the Day: Hillary Clinton on failure to deliver flu vaccines

Her views in 2004 via HUMAN EVENTS:

They’re more interested in tax cuts for the rich than for flu shots for everyone who needs them, and we’ve really paid a big price for their negligence,” she told reporters. “This should be a wake-up call. This administration has their priorities wrong.

I wonder how she feels about Obama’s clusterfark handling of H1N1 and the six months warning we had to get what? 40? 30? 20? million doses of vaccine?

It’s so hard to keep track of Team Obama’s failure I have to provide the numbers I’ve only heard them promise.

Rosie O’Donnell Thinks She and Angelina Jolie Almost Happened

How does one choose between Brad Pitt and Rosie O’Donnell?

We’re not sure we know (or want to know), but at some point Angelina Jolie was faced with that conflict. At least, according to Rosie.

The talk-show icon blabbed to Howard Stern on Sirius XM radio about a time before she was married to Kelli Carpenter and Angelina had tied the knot with Billy Bob Thornton. A romance, she claimed, was a-bloomin’.

“She gave me her phone number,” Rosie said. “We talked on the phone two or three times, but that was that. There was a tentative plan to have dinner that never came through.”

Fear got the best of Rosie and she wasn’t able to seal the deal.

“I was a little afraid of her,” she said. “She’s scary in a sexual kind of way. I have dreams about her a lot still.”

Dems demonstrate again their backward priorities

As a military brat, a Marine, and a civilian I have always distrusted the Democrat Party and their values.

Once again, they prove just how f’d up their priorities are:

Twice as many Democrats say health care reform should be President Obama’s top priority as say the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq should be his top concern, according to a new Gallup poll.

Gallup asked people this question: “Which of the following should be Barack Obama’s top priority as president — the economy, health care, the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan, energy, the federal budget deficit, or something else…?”

gallup-priority-by-party

The numbers help explain Obama’s slowness in reaching a decision on what to do in Afghanistan. There simply aren’t very many people in the president’s party who believe the war should be his top priority — just half as many as those who say health care should be his top concern. When it comes to pressure for a decision coming from his own party, there just isn’t much.

via For Dems, health care reform more important than war in Afghanistan.

When I see numbers like that I don’t see an explanation of Obama’s slowness. I see their attitude towards our military, their sacrifices and the what they really believe when it comes to helping others.

LameStream Media: Why Did You Bypass These Juicy ACORN Nuggets?

The Dominant Media is a joke, let us count the ways in just one story:

But rather than simply pointing a finger and complaining, here are some loose ends the media ignored, from our footage alone, that warrant attention.

With regard to the children:

· Baltimore-Why no mention of the toddlers that were in the room while James and I were being counseled on how to manage our underage prostitution ring?

· San Bernardino-The content of this video was largely ignored except for the part where Tresa Kaelke mentions she shot her husband. What about when she told us not to educate our sex-slaves because they won’t want to work for us? Or when we talked about making more money off clients who are permitted to physically abuse the girls? What about the whole transport-the-girls-in-a-school-bus-to-avoid-suspicion discussion?

Attention to the masses:

· Washington, DC- Why were we counseled by ACORN during a first time homebuyer’s seminar, while 30-40 other first time homebuyers sat crammed in a hot room?

· Brooklyn- This office was swarmed with people, busy staff members and a full waiting room. Did we take our number and wait in line? Nope. Why were we given the private attention of three ACORN staffers, when more deserving and less intrusive clientele patiently waited?

The political games:

· San Bernardino: What happened to the list of politicians that Ms. Kaelke rattled off when she spoke of her ACORN office’s community involvement and influence? Has anyone set out to uncover just how close these politicians relationships are with the San Bernardino ACORN? Does anyone even remember the names?

· San Diego: Has anyone questioned why Juan Carlos would want to help smuggle girls across the Mexican border right after an ACORN-sponsored immigration parade???

· Philadelphia: Why did the Philly office go into damage control mode as soon as the Baltimore story first broke? What do they have to hide?

click for largerI would HATE to be known as the journalist who never saw the bigger picture, lacked the creativity and ambition to approach a story from a fresh perspective, and contributed to the apathy of an entire nation. And I honestly, from the bottom of my heart, think every wannabe and professional journalist has the same attitude.

So why aren’t they behaving accordingly? Fear? Comfort? A false sense of purpose?

I don’t know about the rest of the press corps but all of the above scenarios scream scandalous to me. They’d be worthwhile news.

Obama-crap-sandwiches

I got a delivery for the American people.

Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many “czars” appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?Did you think that another “czar” would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers– that is, to create a situation where some newspapers’ survival would depend on the government liking what they publish?

Did you imagine that anyone would even be talking about having a panel of so-called “experts” deciding who could and could not get life-saving medical treatments?

Scary as that is from a medical standpoint, it is also chilling from the standpoint of freedom. If you have a mother who needs a heart operation or a child with some dire medical condition, how free would you feel to speak out against an administration that has the power to make life and death decisions about your loved ones?

Does any of this sound like America?

How about a federal agency giving school children material to enlist them on the side of the president? Merely being assigned to sing his praises in class is apparently not enough.

How much of America would be left if the federal government continued on this path? President Obama has already floated the idea of a national police force, something we have done without for more than two centuries.
