I am basking in the sun of this new era of love, bi-partisanship, cooperation, and brotherhood. Just like our “leaders” in Washington:
Sen. John Kerry says Democrats should ignore Republicans’ demands about the stimulus plan if they’re going to vote against it anyway.
Reacting to Wednesday night’s vote in the House — where not a single GOP member supported the stimulus package — Kerry told Politico that “if Republicans aren’t prepared to vote for it, I don’t think we should be giving up things, where I think the money can be spent more effectively.”
“If they’re not going to vote for it, let’s go with a plan that we think is going to work.”
The Massachusetts Democrat and 2004 presidential candidate suggested tossing some of the tax provisions in the stimulus that the GOP requested. [source]
Thanks, Lurch. How about someone else? Anyone?
Can I get any love from the mortician from Searchlight?
Last September, Louisiana’s David Vitter strode to the podium of the U.S. Senate to offer an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2009.
What’s so significant about that?
Amazingly, it marks the last time that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid permitted a Republican amendment to be voted on — a period of 125 days that can only be described as a diabolical, dictatorial suppression of democracy in what we still like to pretend is the world’s greatest deliberative body.
If open, honest debate and a full, fair discussion of divergent ideas are prerequisites to representative democracy, then the unavoidable reality imposed upon us by “Dear Leader” Reid’s heavy-handed tactics is this: the United States of America is no longer a representative democracy.
Of course, as depressing a reality as this is — are we really surprised?
After all, Reid and the vast majority of Washington politicians in both parties have been steadily eroding the democratic ideals this nation was founded on for years now. They’ve been telling hard-working Americans of all income levels that they must pay higher taxes and fees on everything under the sun — crippling their ability to survive in a land of dried up opportunities, a land where political correctness trumps founding wisdom and individual liberties are granted or withheld almost exclusively at the whim of the state.
Most recently, these Washington “leaders” essentially gave up on our free market economic system to the tune of at least $8 trillion in socialist-style government interventionism — all within the past four months. [source]
Damn. Strike two. Maybe I can go to the top?
HOPE® and CHANGE®? Well, maybe not:
Two impressions emerge from President Barack Obama’s first week in office:
Partisanship has reached a tipping point when the new president is circling the fire hydrant with a conservative talk-radio personality.
And, the new president is sounding an awful lot like the old one.
Let’s roll the tape.
“I won. I will trump you on that.”
That’s Barack Obama a few days ago, according to The Associated Press, speaking to Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl of Arizona during a meeting with congressional leaders about the proposed stimulus package. Kyl had the audacity to question giving tax credits to people who do not owe federal income taxes.
Rewinding to 2004: “I earned capital in this campaign, political capital, and now I intend to spend it. It is my style.”
That’s George W. Bush after his re-election, explaining his assumption that the American people approved of his many plans, including Social Security reform and the war on terror.
Obama and Bush each mistakenly assumed that his election was a national mandate for his policies, rather than a rejection of alternatives.

Via JammieWearingFool:
Remember way back when? You know, somewhere around January 21 or so when all the Dems were talking a good game about having transparency in government and none was a bigger spokesperson for this then The One, The Messiah, Mr HopeandChange himself, Barack Obama.
Well, just like everything else he has said or promised to reassure those who might be skeptical of him and his socialists leanings, he has also started to backtrack on this pie in the sky talk.
The White House has silently tripled the number of Web pages that it forbids Google and other search engines from accessing.
Can’t have those nasty searches of the White House web sites now, can we?
It is sad to see the Democrats continue to be so untrustworthy.

Via I.T.T.I.E. : I believe I’m done listening.
That’s the first paragraph in a Washington Post story today. And I’m done reading. Why? Because I don’t listen to people who 1) tell me I have to sacrifice my comfortable 72degree home and then go increasing the heat in the oval office to orchid weather. 2) tell me I can’t eat what I want and then have a party with $100 steaks on the menu 3) and now tell me that bankers are shameful for taking money during such hard times while “stimulating” and economy by essentially taking money during such hard times for things that he wants. Or enjoying a 170 million dollar inauguration. As Dinocrat notes, this is looking like a track record of do as I say, not as I do.
Sigh.

CNN, enabling cultists across our nation one t-shirt at a time.
I can’t decide if this is classic media propaganda under the guise of capitalism, or a sad indication of what living in a country defined by American Idol looks like.

Big Hollywood: Have Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore Already Broken the Celebrity Pledge of Servitude to President Obama?
It’s been less than two weeks — ten days to be exact — but it seems that May-December Hollywood power couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have already broken the spirit of their “Presidential Pledge” to Barack Obama.
Last week Big Hollywood drew attention to a 4:13 video [link altered from original - ed.] directed by Demi Moore and starring Kutcher and fifty-six of their famous friends and intended to “illustrate how they will help make the nationwide change, inspired by President-elect Barack Obama, a reality.”
One of the central tenets of the pledge is to be more neighborly.
From the script — “I pledge”:
Ioan Gruffudd: “to meet my neighbors”…
Rex Lee: “Find out their names”…
Cameron Diaz: “I am gonna give ‘em a smile”…
Tatyana Ali: “And ask them how I can be of service to them”…The smiling and community service-mindedness ended Thursday morning on the affluent side of Beverly Hills. According to TMZ, “Kutcher went absolutely insane when he was woken up by a neighbor who started construction on a house at 7:30 in the morning.”
I was HOPE® -ing for CHANGE® out there in Hollyweird, guess I’ll have to look somewhere else for role models with honesty and integrity. Or maybe I’ll just continue to hold our military up as the best example of what good people can do and cast aside any HOPE® that these sunshine patriots will ever really CHANGE®.

Interesting, no?
A parent in the Clark County School District of Las Vegas, Henderson area reported today that his son, who is in 1st grade, came home yesterday saying that he didn’t want to go back to school anymore.
When asked why, the boy said that during the Pledge of Allegiance the teacher put up a large image of Obama next to the flag.
Thinking that the boy might be exaggerating, the man asked his son if he was sure, and suggested that by “large” he might mean an 8×10 photo of the president. The boy apparently said “No, it is a large picture of Obama and when we are done, the teacher turns off the image.”
Now, we’ll have to see if the story actually pans out.

Joshua Key has a book out. He joined the Army in 2002 and was sent to Iraq. He is also a deserter in a time of war.
He ran off to Canada. He is a big star among the useful idiots out there. He claims in his book to have witnessed numerous war crimes in Iraq.
Trouble is, once you look at his claims, you get the feeling that he is full of fecal matter.
There are two excellent posts out there that question and dismantle Key’s stories. The first you need to see is at ROK Drop, entitled “Useful Idiot: Joshua Key“:
Let’s start from the beginning with this guy. He says that when he enlisted in the Army he was lied to and told that he could not be deployed and would stay at a stateside location by his recruiter. Notice this guy enlisted after 9/11, who the hell enlists in the Army much less after 9/11 thinking they have no chance of being deployed? Either an idiot or liar. He then goes on to say that most soldiers in the military that enlisted were also told they would not have to deploy as well. He says recruiters were telling potential recruits they would not deploy as a way to get them to enlist. He then drops this whopper that 99% of the military enlisted because they were poor and had no other options. Where did he get that stat from? John Kerry?
Key than went on to say that US Army recruiters are going AWOL because they are under so much pressure to meet recruiting goals. I searched the Internet and could not find one case of any recruiters going AWOL. I figured if a recruiter went AWOL the lefty sites would have that story front and center, but I could not find one. It just seems that if someone is going to throw an allegation like this out there, they would back it up with names at the least. So Mr. Key if you end up reading this, what recruiters went AWOL? I would really like to know.
He also makes claims that soldiers are trained to be bigots in basic training. The drill sergeants trained him that all Muslims were terrorists and needed to be killed.
[...]
Our man Mr. Key’s tall tales only get taller once he gets into Iraq. His unit, the 43 Combat Engineer Company, which as I said earlier was part of the 3rd ACR was assigned to Ramadi. It is here he says he saw regular war crimes committed. Here is a video interview with Key explaining one of the war crimes he saw committed. He claims he saw soldiers kill a group of civilians than behead them and play soccer with the heads and then proceed to run them over with their vehicles. Yes, I know to reasonable people this sounds absolutely ridiculous, however to lefties they believe this is regularly going on and Key is just confirming it to them.
…the other great post is located at This Ain’t Hell, entitled “The Fables of Deserter Joshua Key: Why Milblogs are Needed“:
Part I of this post will cover some absolute absurd crap in this book, and errors that no one in the military would ever make unless they were such a shitbag that they really didn’t even know what they were doing. For instance, would a real troop refer to a “gunny sergeant” in the army, or to a “M-16 Grenade Launcher” instead of a M203? Nah, I don’t think so. Some of the quotes are just hilarious. Like the dude allegedly trying to commit suicide by shooting himself in the leg with the grenade launcher. What dipshit doesn’t know that 40mm rounds have an arming distance? And, how about a hospital where needles and fetuses are scattered on the floor? And some Hollywood type pyrotechnics stuff that I believe he saw on Die Hard II.Part II of this post will detail the lavish tongue bath that this piece of work received from the media, and such literary luminaries as Daily Kos. A future post will go more in depth on the book itself, but anyone with a modicum of military training or common sense would see how much fertilizer this dude is spreading. As I see it, the job of milbloggers is to set these stories right.
Milbloggers in the past have exposed frauds like Jim Massey, Jesse MacBeth, and Scott Beauchamp among others who continue to malign the integrity, honor, service, and sacrifices of our military members.
It is a shock to think that these ass clowns believe their myths and fables will not be exposed.
However, it is not a shock for the useful idiots in this country to cling to these stories as some kind of proof of American war crimes. In order to be a useful idiot, you have to be willing to accept things without objective examination nor healthy skepticism. And that is exactly what is happening.

I am surprised it took this long for some asshat to sue the airline. But then again, I guess he can’t sue the geese that attacked the plane, THEY’RE DEAD.
PTSD and a bloody nose do not make for a good law suit in most people’s minds. Now we wait for the adulterous former senator and Democratic VP candidate from North Carolina to step up to take the case and start channeling dead birds.

Uh, Mr. President, would you please tell us what the plan is?
What?
You don’t have one?
No exit strategy?
Interesting.
