Obama: Don’t polygraph me, man!

Hot Air: Mark Shields: Obama couldn’t pass a polygraph

Mark Shields didn’t mince words on PBS about Barack Obama’s decision to opt out of public financing. Appearing as the progressive balance with David Brooks on Judy Woodruff’s show, Shields ripped into Obama, calling him unprincipled and suggesting that his latest video message painted him as a “hostage” who couldn’t pass a polygraph.

[...]

Obama lied about the 527s. He smeared McCain by accusing him of having fueled his campaign on lobbyist donations. He reversed reality by calling Republicans “masters” of the 527 strategy that his allies George Soros and MoveOn dominated in 2004 and 2000. And Obama didn’t even have the courage to negotiate with his political opponent while telling voters that we shouldn’t fear negotiating with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Vero Possumus, indeed.

The negativities will continue to pile up for supporting Obama. Hopefully, enough people will wake up and smell the steaming pile Barack is making.Lack of Judgment to Lead

How many disappointing stories about Obama’s lack of judgment will it take to demonstrate he has none? How many times does this guy have to lie about his positions? How many lies about 527s and McCain does he have to tell? How many time does Obama have to use fear and race to remind you those are the tactics of the other party?

How can anyone trust this guy to be our nation’s leader and our Commander-in-Chief?

John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has “evolved,” yet he’s continued to oppose key civil rights laws.
According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain “will make Cheney look like Gandhi.”
His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.
McCain opposes a woman’s right to choose. He said, “I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned.”4
The Children’s Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children’s health care bill last year, then defended Bush’s veto of the bill.
He’s one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a “second job” and skip their vacations.
Many of McCain’s fellow Republican senators say he’s too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He’s erratic. He’s hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.”7
McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.8
McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his “spiritual guide,” Rod Parsley, believes America’s founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a “false religion.” McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church “the Antichrist” and a “false cult.”9
He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.
Except for a few months “working” for his father-in-law McCain, McCain’s father and grand father have never worked in a a non-tax payer funded job.

“yet he’s continued to oppose key civil rights laws.”

    Like?

“Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain “will make Cheney look like Gandhi.”

And you believe hyperbole from an isolationist like Buchanan. His latest string of articles on WWII have caused me to lose what little respect I had for him.

“McCain opposes a woman’s right to choose. He said, “I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned.”

So he opposes the killing of the unborn, how is that an exercise in bad judgment. It sounds like he simply disagrees with your pro-choice perspective. Does disagreement imply of mean bad judgment?

“McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists.”

Why are you worried who raised funds for him? Do lobbyists lose their right to work for and support candidates? If you are that concerned about lobbyists being too involved in the political process remove the incentive for business to hire them in the first place buy curtailing the regulatory power of the federal government.

“McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church “the Antichrist” and a “false cult.”

Hagee long ago apologized for his comments about Katrina (has Rev. Wright apologized?). Also you might want to double check your source for the quote about the anti-Christ. Hagee stated that a false cult would arise in the end times. He didn’t say the Catholic church was that cult/religion. Moreover much of his condemnation of Catholicism has centered on past antisemitism of the church (encouragement of designating Jews as Christ killers, crusades that slaughtered tens of thousands of Jewish men and women, etc.). Do you disagree with those condemnations of the Catholic churches checkered past?

“Except for a few months “working” for his father-in-law McCain, McCain’s father and grand father have never worked in a a non-tax payer funded job.”

Indeed, how dare he or his family serve their country. Geesh.

BTW where did you copy and paste this list from? The numbers 4 and 7 kind of give this away as most likely being a list originally posted elsewhere. Wait, don’t bother, I found it…
