DPGI – the aftermath

UPDATED and BUMPED: Matthew J. Marren: F’ing unhinged anti-war nutjob shoots airman, kills self, Dominant Media silent

July 10, 2007 · 17 Comments

UPDATE: Sound like the airman’s condition is improving.

Because that’s what a coward does….

Via Michelle Malkin: Unhinged anti-war zealot shoots airman, kills self

The ultimate justice to this story will be when the airman returns to duty, after spitting on the grave of Matthew Marren.

Thank the Lord, I do not subscribe to the ideals that produce people like this.

I would wager, the airman has loaded more humanitarian supplies in his aircraft than Matthew Marren had ever seen or laid hands on during his pathetically wasted short life.

I wonder if the Dominant Media will cover this?

What ideals are talking about that produce people like Matt? You have no idea of what kind of parents he has. Who are you to judge? Is your house clean? If not, you better get in clean. God will not be mocked and your sin will be exposed also. This incident is sad and left a lot of wounded people. Your gossip and trash is not helping either. Why don’t you pray for these two families? Or are too uplifted and holy for that?

Oh Peter, you remind me of the holier-than-thou’s I went to school with at Baylor.

I am but a Fallen Man and do not pretend to be more than that.

It is people like you that keep me and others from returning to the church. I saw them in school, I work with one, I know a few others.

Thanks for your “concern” and your sermon, but I’ll will take my chance with the Big Man and be judged by Him and not the likes of you.

    Have a holier weekend.

as matthews aunt i can not tell you what he was thinking.i do not know . i can tell you that his beliefs were not neccessarily those of our entire family. i for one have nothing but high praise for our military and those that serve in it. i pray daily for jonathan to recover. i am so sorry this happened. peter is right in the sense that this incident has wounded both families. Both of matthews parents were great people.they too have my daily prayers. you all have no idea that hurt that this has caused both familes.

I am sure you are right and I am sorry you are having to deal with the pain that your nephew has brought to so many. I am dealing with the anger that is generated when ideas cause people to do meaningless things like this to my military bretheren.

I do not understand why people think it makes the situation any easier by talking bad about Matt. We all know that what happened is very bad and hurt a lot of people, but bashing him or his family is not helping anyone. People who do not know Matt or this guy Jon do not need to be talking about them like they are personaly involved. Those of us who new and loved Matt do not think of his as a crazy anti american anything. We knew a person who we never would have ever though would have done this, but it happened and it is hard for everyone to move on. I just wish that people could try to extend their good wished to both familys instead of cursing Matt or talking about him like they knew him. Every day I have read tihing online describing Matt as someone totally diffent that the person I knew. All I am saying is please show some level of humanity when you are talking about people who are no longer with us. Their familys and friends do not need anymore to deal with.

Evidently you didn’t know him as well as you think you did. Because his lasting legacy will be that of someone who did something you had no idea he was capable of or willing to do.

I judge people by their actions.

Sorry for your loss, but I have no sympathy for Matt, he chose his path and I condemn him for it.

The DOMINANT MEDIA need not cover this story, because it is under INVESTIGATION!!!!Have you ever heard of investigations? You are not supposed to know all the details. Anyway, as one of his aunts, I happen to know for certain that only the Willingboro police know what was on the suicide note, and that the aunt who was quoted in the Burlington County Times hadn’t seen the note, nor did the mother, who stated that the note said he was “anti-government.” To put the spin and make this into an “anti-war, anti-military” issue is a bunch of bull. So all this stuff spreading around is not even totally factual. Get the facts from the Willingboro police, not from your newspapers, especially the liberal Burlington County Times! And leave the grieving families alone! If this was your son who had done this, how would you have felt? Would you want some people who spend all their time on blogs ruining other’s lives talking about it? I would say not.

You’re an idiot to think the investigation into why someone shoots another for “no reason” is not something the news should be covering. They should be all over it because this one involves a victim who is a member of our armed forces who almost lost his life in a UNPROVOKED, UNWARRANTED, VICIOUS, COWARDLY ATTACK.

Go ahead and try to defend someone like that.

I have only sympathy for the family. But they need not visit this blog nor any other for fear of getting their feelings hurt or being reminded of how their boy’s life ended in such a sad and senseless manner.

If you think this is somehow the actions of someone who was “pro-military” and “pro-war” I would love to hear that case pleaded. According to the victim the intent was pretty clear.

  • Lexis // July 24, 2007 at 17:52

WIth all due respect, I am not defending his actions. What he did was wrong. However, stuff that has been spreading on the blogs and internet, via Michelle Malkin, was not reported correctly. It was based on false information given by one of his aunts, who did not even see the notes herself, but claimed she knew what was written on them. All I am trying to do is put an end to this false information spreading.
The mainstream media has covered this story. See the Philadelphia Inquirer story on July 18, and the Courier Post coverage on July 16, as well as ABC News 6 in Philadelphia.

Thank you and have a nice day.

By the way, I’m not an idiot. An idiot is someone who is ill-informed of facts.
    id·i·ot(d-t)
    n.
    1. A foolish or stupid person.
    2. A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.

I liked and appreciated your second comment but the third tells me you want to be smacked in the head with a cluebat.

To think that the Dominant Media should lay off a story because of an ongoing “investigation” is idiotic.

While I do not place you in the circle that encloses those who fit the second definition of “idiot”, you have a deep hole to climb out of to convince me that on some level you do not fit the first.

  • Lexis // July 24, 2007 at 18:34

If the media wants to cover the story more, fine. But they need to deal with FACTS, and not speculation. Thus my first definition of idiot–a person who is ill-informed of FACTS. If all journalists followed these guidelines, we wouldn’t have everyone hating America for being in Iraq. The media would cover the good things that are happening in Iraq, and not slant it based on their personal views. That is what happened with this story. The information was slanted and spread as “anti-war” and “anti-government.”

I happen to know for a FACT there are details about this story that need to be kept under investigation, and not in the mainstream media due to safety issues. The media has a habit of giving information that puts other people in harm’s way.

By the way, thank you to all military men and women who defend our country, including yourself. I apologize for the previous post of not following your commenting guidelines.

    Sincerely

You need not post this last blog. My last comment on your blog is this: I personally e-mailed Michelle Malkin who first started spreading the mis-information abd confronted her with it. I do realize you were only commenting on what you assumed to be totally factual.

  • jcrue // July 24, 2007 at 19:10

well gee, Lexis thanks. I hope you are successful in your attempts to address this issue.

  • Kristen // July 24, 2007 at 19:16

Lexis, Just wondering? DId you know Matt also? I would assume from your point of view that you did, but I wanted to ask anyway.

  • Lexis // July 24, 2007 at 20:32

To Kristen: I am one of his aunts.

  • Kristen // July 25, 2007 at 4:46

Oh, Lexis, I am so sorry for your loss. You should know though, Matt, though all his problems was, and still is, loved by many people. I just wish he knew that a month ago. Not that I am implying anything! I am just saying, I cared about his greatly. Also, being as how the funeral was closed and only about 10 if his friends went, there were many other people who cared about him and wanted to be there. If there is anything I can do to help you or his parents, please let me know. We can find a way to talk off of here is you wish.
