Ignorant, stupid kid gets tazed at UCLA for resisting the enforcement of established rules

Anyone who starts screaming about the Patriot Act after refusing to produce ID in a major university library deserves to have reality kick them in the crotch.

Evidently there is a rule at UCLA that only faculty, staff, and students are allowed in the library after a certain time at night and can be asked to prove their identification. This is for the campus community’s safety.

Then along comes this idiot and he wants to refuse, to resist, and to fail to comply with that rule, so he ends up getting tazed. Boo hoo.

Watch the video from Stop The ACLU: CAIR Calls For Probe of UCLA Student Tasered By Cops

Notice how the manliness of this idiot quickly disappears as he cries about the oppression of the government, the Patriot Act, and various other paranoid idiocy. All for not cooperating with the basic instruction of “Get up”.

In my work, I deal almost exclusively with academics from the professor to the librarian to the student. And I have to say this demonstration of intelligence on the part of this idiot kid is par for the course. I am befuddled by the ignorance and lack of problem-solving skills displayed by students from the community college to the most respected institutions of “higher learning” in our country I see each day.

Maybe the officers were out of line, but I do not see it. You want to prove a point and refuse to comply with the rules and authority in our society (by simply showing your ID in a freakin’ university library to a security officer), expect consequences. If you continue to refuse to cooperate and begin to resist, expect stiff consequences.

Then there is the subject of the Patriot Act and the paranoia of the academic world…

Don’t get me started.

It’s simple . . . he was asked to show his ID . . . big deal!! By refusing to do so he brought this on himself! He refused to show his ID and then continued to refuse to obey commands from the police even after being tazed . . . how stupid is that!! Now he’s going to turn it into a big deal. Maybe his parents should have taught him to respect authority and do as he’s told! He deserved everything that he got!

Many people have DIED after being tasered, but some TRUE idiots apparently believe the death penalty (or its potential) – with NO due process whatsoever accorded – is an appropriate punishment for failing to show a student ID to get into a library. Such true idiots need to get some perspective and realize demanding a student ID at a university library may be a reasonable rule for conduct at the university, but it has NOTHING to do with our national security (countless tons of unchecked cargo coming into our ports should have so much attention) and said idiots might take advantage of the learning opportunities offered at our nation’s universities to learn something about logical thinking.

my comment is “awaiting moderation?” what does that mean? because I referred to the writer as an “idiot,” when I’m rebutting the writer’s allegation that the student was an “idiot?” how does this work?

  1. read the “commenters” page and you may understand what “awaiting moderation” means.

  2. Not taking sides but, the kid was an idiot. When the cops tell you to get up, you get up, or you can be arrested. And to resist dumps a world of pain on you. See, what you idealists (that would be Anne) dont understand is that noone in government law enforcement or Prosecution cares about your ideals. You get arrested, you are charged, and they pass it on to the District attorney. Nobody cares there either. If they have evidence, they try you, if they don’t, they don’t. But the perp, in this case the idiot, has to get a lawyer, pay for that, take time to go to court, and could possibly end up in jail. In his case that is highly likely considering his ethnic background.

And Anne, the death penalty remark was really juvenile. People have died from all sorts of restraints, even from merely being hand-cuffed. Now, you may be an anarchist, but sometimes people need to be restrained, and their danger or threat of injury or death is directly related to how much they resist. Clearly, unless you are a moron or something, the man posed a risk to those around him and even himself.

There is no grey area here, the man was asked for something, an ID, he refused to show it and then refused to leave. Police were called, he refused to go. At that point police have to arrest him.

Now, your blaming the police for what….?

umm excuse me he CANT get up because he got TASERED which means his muscles were not responding he definantly did not deserve the taser, those cops are morons like ur heading of the “ignorant stupid kid” which was pretty stupid as well

  3. Not true, it is typically only during the tazing where your body shuts down and in this incident it has been reported that the police used what is known as “drive stun” which does not embed the barbs you see used on police videos. In the video above it is clear he is no where near as incapacitated as what you would expect from a full tazing.

Maybe next time they can try the “pretty please” method you might prefer. That might get his ID card out his pocket.

Read some of the other posts about this kid and you will realize, he took an opportunity to resist the cops for his own aggrandizement. All he had to do the entire time was pull out his ID which was on his person the whole time.

The moron remains the student, sorry. Anyone who brings this upon themselves cannot be considered anything more.

Annie, yes people have died from being tasered. Let’s rephrase that a bit, shall we.

People on DRUGS have died from being tased.

I guess being tased is worsed then being brought into complaince with a night stick to the body? Oh, right, this was “passive resistance” (let’s save a few posts here). What were the police supposed to do, lay on the ground crying and whining like a 5 year old and disrupting the rest of the students in the library? This adult was a 5th year student. If you can’t understand such a basic idea of “you must have your ID after X time if you want to use the library” after being someplace for 5 years then you don’t deserve a college education. You especially don’t cry and whine after bringing in extrenious issues, such as the patriot act.

    Was the police excessive?
Maybe. Maybe more force once would have been better then less force multiple times. Hand cuff, stun, carry/drag out would have been better then using the drive stun option.

Did the kid resist arrest and deserve to have some sort of physical harm (remember, acting like this would have bought him a can full of mace or a night stick across the chest a few years ago) come to him in order to bring him into compliance with the rules and laws?

    Definately.

  4. let us not forget that the kid had his ID on his person the entire time. he wanted something to happen and, oh boy, I am sure he regrets that decision.

stupid kid. gotta love generation “me”…

I highly doubt that any of you would be so quick to say he deserved it if his name were “John Smith.” What if, perhaps, it was a female? This kid was not posing any physical threat to students, officers, himself, etc but they chose to subdue him as if he was.
Apply handcuffs. If he resists, muscle him to the ground (my god there were enough of these guys to do this) and then handcuff him. I don’t think it makes sense for someone to be tortured (because that’s what it essentially was) simply because he was staging a non-violent protest. Have we learned nothing from the protests of the sxties?
These cops have a history of being trigger happy with punishment so don’t be so quick to let them off the hook.

  5. don’t care who he is or what his name was. i would support the cops for any retard like this who thinks he is above the law, doesn’t have to follow the rules, or can decide he doesn’t want to comply with instructions from law enforcement.

if you think getting hit by the drive stun from a taser is torture, you have a pathetic idea of what torture is.

from both eye witness accounts and postings this kid evidently removed from his Facebook profile, his reaction was exactly what should have been expected from him.

the idiot was given several warnings about the tasing and was given several opportunities to cooperate from when the security guard asked for the ID to the cops finally getting him out of the library – he chose the path that led to these results.

at every stage, the idiot was given options and he chose the ones that got him lightening in his ass. i do not feel sorry for him one bit.

news flash, skool, actions have consequences. you can’t whine about the consequences of your own actions just because they don’t involve the kid gloves you are used to from your parents and your society.

i can’t believe the nation of whiny little babies we have raised.

the only thing you should learn from the protests of the 60′s is not to use flowers to fend off troops with guns…

and as mentioned previously, these cops also have a history of outstanding police work and have been awarded for such. show me a cop who doesn’t have a complaint against them and i’ll show you a cop who is not doing their job.

First off that kid had no right getting tazed in the first place. If you listen to him talking, he replied to the officers that he will go get his libabry card…he didnt have it on him..they jumped him. And tazed him for no reason. When he was willing to leave and go get it. He never refused the officers. And second off…if you get tazed.. in the first place you loose all feelings to you legs..he couldnt walk..and he tried telling him that..But the officers in there ignorance never was aware of it. Getting tazed over 8 times…unbelievable and out of line. I hope those crooked cops lost there badges….

and j crue…tazed isnt torture…apparently youve never been tazed before…8 or more times at that…get a clue. the kid didnt do nothing wrong…you guys need to watch that video more closely. cold hearted shit right there….if you dont take that kids side.

  7. my goodness, serendipity, what? are you twelve or something?

who said anything about a “right to taze”? what the hell does that even mean? are you trying to tell the police are using an unauthorized compliance technique?

the idiot was told to comply with the officers, he was told failure to comply would result in tazing, he chose the outcome by his actions.

i guess in college these days they teach you your actions have no consequences…or is that just child-rearing today? i see the evidence of it everywhere…

evidently you have not read the discussion on this topic in other posts here. that said, I disagree with your assessment of what happened.

it has been proven that the kid had his card on him and refused to show it. he also “went limp” in a classic form of non-violent protest. when you do not cooperate with the police there are consequences. thus, the attempt to remove the kid and the subsequent tazing.

i feel nothing for this kid but contempt and disgust. he was stupid and now he’s trying to cash in. he tried to prove a point. he is quoted as having a desire to protest and resist on Facebook posts people have found. and anyone who brings up the Patriot Act in a situation like this needs to have their head examined for delusional tendencies.

if the tazing were a full charge and not what is known as “drive stun”, the student would have been speechless after the first one for several minutes. his ranting and crying and screaming and his exhortations of his fellow students demonstrate to me he was treated in a very light manner even with the tazing.

he brought this on himself. regardless of the consequences, he put himself in this situation and he is directly responsible for the outcome of it.

he could have complied at anytime. period.

serendipity, you wasted your time trying to make a point.

You betcha, stand at attention you worm and MOVE when I say move. Now let’s see your papers and be quick about it!

    • Justin Lewis
    • September 18th, 2007

Why should he have to show his papers? The simple fact is they singled this guy out. You see a ton of people in the video, were they all asked to show their papers? I see most of these comments say he got what he deserved because he didnt obey the police? Thats exactly why this totalitarian, capitalist government has fallen before your eyes. You are the people who will allow this government to destroy the constitution and the sad thing is you ignorant fools probably do not even know your doing it. Its very sad, americans destroying america by design. There is a bigger picture to this than if the cops had justification or not. Everyone has been coned into obeying or suffer the consiquences of the sword. Cops today are not the cops that were designed to be. The police is supposed to be the people you can trust and be cool with, whenever you need them you call upon them. So why is it now americans hate the police and are afraid of them and do not ask questions but simply obey? Power! and it is people like yall that allow them to have that power. Some people will never get it because they are consumed by the propaganda. Mindless sheep that follow and do not think for themselves. Maybe when we have to show our papers to UN soldiers on the corner of our streets like in nazi germany after the upcoming nuclear war with Iran, then maybe you will realize that it was planned by our government to take TOTAL control. Slavery is freedom right?

Remember when people still had freedom of speech without being dragged out by the authorities and harrassed? They only wanted to know who he was because they didn’t like what he had to say. If the “idiot” was giving praise, no one would have ever cared to see his ID. People who can’t see that are clearly the real “idiots” here…

    • Josh
    • September 20th, 2007

Oh my goodness! What’s wrong with you people? Listen to you!

“If you don’t show your ID, the police have the right to taze you.”

This is unacceptable. It is well know that police are instructed to use their taser only when they, or someone else, is threatened with bodily harm. How was this student posing a threat? He was cuffed. He was lying on the ground. After having 50,000 volts run through your body, you wouldn’t be able to stand up either.

The police just had to pick him up by his arms and carry him out. We’ve seen them do it on the show “Cops” hundreds of times. These officers were clearly abusing their power.

The fact that you support this shows that America is ready for a police-state with full government control. What’s happened to civil freedom guaranteed in the Bill of Rights? What’s happened to freedom? What’s happened to the government fearing and respecting the people, rather than the people quaking in fear of the government? The fact that you support this act of violence appalls me, and it should appall anyone who genuinely appreciated freedom as it is defined in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

I’m stunned the students didn’t intervene. Think about the founding fathers of this country. If Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, James Madison, Ben Franklin, etc saw this kind of government abuse of power, they’d be outraged and seek to stop it!

I believe the students would have been fully justified in physically intervening and taking those cops down!

All of you people who thought it was ok for this kid to disrupt the library like this are idiots. If you don’t like this country get the “F” out. Go to China and see how great your human rights would be there. The problem in this country is that people think they have the right to do whatever the hell they want and that is not true. If the cops did nothing and this kid and he pulled out a gun and blew people away (Like in Virginia Tech) people would have been outraged and went boo hoo where were the police. Damned if you do damed if you don’t. Go to hell idiots. We have more rights now in the history of this country then at any other time. It is idiots like this who prove that point every day.
